Professor Delaere is Professor of ENT, Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Leuven, Belgium. 

​

His main interest is in the field of head and neck surgery. In addition to clinical work, Professor Delaere’s research is reconstruction and transplantation of larynx and trachea with focus on blood supply restoration to the reconstructed site since 1998. In 2008, the first vascularized tracheal allotransplantation took place in 2008 and has published in New England Journal of Medicine on 14 January 2010.
