Dr. Sophie Ricketts specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery, holding Consultant positions at both The Alfred and St Vincent's Hospitals in Melbourne, Australia while maintaining an active private practice. After graduating with Honors in Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Tasmania in 2001, she obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic Surgery in 2011.

Dr. Ricketts' comprehensive training encompassed four years of basic surgical training at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, followed by advanced specialist training across Melbourne's major teaching hospitals including The Royal Melbourne, The Alfred, and The Royal Children's Hospitals. Her pursuit of surgical excellence led her to the Toronto's Sunnybrook Hospital, a premier trauma center, where she refined her expertise in rhinoplasty, adult craniofacial surgery, and complex facial trauma management - experience that profoundly informed her approach to aesthetic surgery.

Upon her international training, Dr. Ricketts returned to Melbourne to establish her practice across three key settings. She holds Consultant appointments at both The Alfred Hospital—Victoria’s major trauma center, where she manages complex post-traumatic reconstruction—and St. Vincent’s Hospital, specializing in oncologic reconstruction for breast, head and neck, and sarcoma patients. Complementing her public hospital work, Dr. Ricketts maintains a private practice focused on personalized aesthetic and reconstructive care.

Dr. Ricketts has cultivated specialized expertise across the full spectrum of plastic surgery, with particular focus on both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. Her clinical practice encompasses sophisticated aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery, where she applies her refined understanding of facial anatomy to achieve natural, transformative results. She has developed significant proficiency in oncologic reconstruction, regularly performing complex breast reconstructions following mastectomy as well as head and neck reconstructions for cancer patients. Her trauma reconstruction skills, honed through extensive experience at major trauma centers, enable her to restore both form and function for injured patients. Additionally, Dr. Ricketts offers comprehensive body contouring procedures, helping patients achieve their desired physique through meticulous surgical techniques.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Ricketts is deeply committed to global surgical initiatives as an active volunteer with Interplast. In this capacity, she provides essential surgical services while mentoring local surgeons throughout the Asia-Pacific region, embodying her dedication to sustainable healthcare development.
