Dr. Jacky Lam is Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Pathology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Honorary Associate Consultant at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Dr. Lam is currently the Assistant Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK. His pioneering research program focuses on translational applications of cell-free DNA biology, with particular emphasis on developing innovative molecular biomarkers for cancer diagnostics.
As a leading expert in liquid biopsy technologies, Dr. Lam has made seminal contributions to understanding plasma Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). His work has led to the development of novel diagnostic assays that significantly improve NPC screening accuracy and disease monitoring, several of which have been successfully implemented in routine clinical practice. These molecular tools now enable earlier detection and more precise prognostication for NPC patients.
Dr. Lam's leadership extends to shaping international standards, having spearheaded the development of evidence-based guidelines for EBV DNA biomarker applications in NPC screening. His research bridges fundamental science with clinical implementation, employing cutting-edge molecular techniques to address critical needs in cancer diagnostics.
