Professor Fu-Chan Wei is a world-renowned microsurgeon and a pioneering figure in the field of reconstructive microsurgery. He established the world’s most comprehensive and busiest microsurgical center at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, setting global standards for excellence in microsurgical techniques and patient care. His ground-breaking contributions have earned him recognition as one of the “twenty most important innovators in plastic surgery over the past 400 years” by the American Society of Plastic Surgery and one of the “10 most influential reconstructive surgeons in the 21st century” by the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons.
Professor Wei’s exceptional achievements have been honoured with an Honorary Fellowship from the American College of Surgeons. He was elected as an Academician at the Academia Sinica in Taiwan, one of the highest academic honours in the region. His work has revolutionized the field of reconstructive microsurgery, particularly in the areas of flap surgery, limb reconstruction, and head and neck reconstruction, benefiting countless patients worldwide.
